In a second feature for the mascara week I thought it’d be great to talk about two hyped up mascaras and share my impression about each. Spoiler alert: I am a huge fan of one and really dislike the other, no matter how much I’ve tried to like it. One more important thing – I have tried both mascaras not only on myself. I’ve also paid for both.
Here we go…
It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (£20 from Cult Beauty/$24 from Sephora)
This mascara is absolutely brilliant, it lives up to the “Superhero” name. It is an all-in-one formula, your lashes are instantly transformed. We are talking ultra black, long and super voluminous results.
I’ve also read that this product contains “lash-lifting polymers, volumising collagen, strengthening biotin, proteins and peptides” to condition the lashes. I am a huge effect of this mascara as it is so that is like a great bonus.
You get great fabulous results with any sorts of lashes but if yours are naturally long and thick it will be a show-stopping effect, trust me. I’ve tried it on a girl with such lashes and we were both blown away by the results and she told me that her lashes never looked like this before. It is brilliant, and I am on my second tube.
Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara (£21.50/$25).You can get Lancome from Neiman Marcus, Sephora Selfridges, Harrods, Nordstrom.
I am a huge fan of Lancome Hypsone mascara, and really like the brand in general, so I did want to like this one but I just couldn’t. I’ve tried it so many times but we just did not get along.
In fact, I did ask a few of my girlfriends to try it, and neither of them liked it. I’ve also recommended it to one of my best friends because the reviews were good and she told me that it’s just shit [That’s the exact quote, I am sorry].
Why did I not like it? The formula is very “wet”, it did not give me mind blowing effects I was hoping for but instead it was kind of clumpy (not in a good way) and always smudging, as I have sensitive eyes, and they are often watery. On top of it all, it was a pain to take it off in the evenings, and my version is not even waterproof.
So how is this mascara loved by so many is a misery to me (and my friends who tried it). We’ve just wasted our money, unfortunately.
