Guerlain · Terracotta Contour & Glow Palette, Skin Foundation Stick

Summer may be officially, over but that doesn’t mean you need to drop the vibe and when it comes to radiance, Guerlain has pretty much written the book on the subject. Introducing the newest members to the brand’s iconic Terracotta family and after having played & tested these lovelies for some time now, I’m ready to give you the full scoop. Spoiler: you’re going to love!

Terracotta Skin Foundation Stick (CAN $54.00/each) | Several weeks ago I had posted a review featuring this latest foundation (read more here), and the Guerlain team was kind enough to send along a deeper shade that has literally become one of my most-reached for foundations since. I personally love the convenience of a twist-up stick, along with its portability — small enough to tuck into your makeup bag for any needed touch ups. The texture is wonderful as well, providing light-medium coverage that leaves behind a natural-skin effect, without any visible oxidation. The only downside is that the colour range is rather limited — something I’m hoping will change to be more inclusive, as I feel Guerlain has an absolute winner here.

Terracotta Contour & Glow Palette (CAN $84.00) | For the first time, Guerlain has released a bronzer, sculpting powder, blush and highlighter all housed in one convenient palette. The tin slim-profile case bears a raised sun-ray pattern on the lid with a full sized mirror on the inside. Both the bronzer (far left) and sculpting powers are well sized, enabling you to use a variety of brushes with ease and while they each have their own designation, I personally found that the sculpting powder can be used as a bronzer or even as eyeshadow. The blush and highlighter are combined in one pan which makes it a little tricky to easily pick up the shades individually, unless you go in with narrow brushes. That said, I actually prefer swirling my brush over both for application, as that gives a gorgeous flush of radiant colour that never comes off as “contrived” (ie: no obvious delineation marks).

Guerlain is one of my long-time favourite brands — especially when it comes to bronzing. The Terracotta formula has the distinction of being the first powdered bronzer to come to market, and with that provenance behind it, you can be sure that it seriously provides one of the best and most natural-looking effects upon the skin, along with moisturizing benefits as well. That same attention has been given to the new Foundation Sticks and I couldn’t be happier, as I’m all about a natural looking finish that still gives some coverage. As to the palette, it’s a great option for anyone who’s yet to splurge on any of the Terracotta products … with a few extras thrown in to sweeten the deal. What’s not to love?
