Givenchy · Couture Edition 2019

Following an established tradition, Givenchy recently launched a new Couture Edition collection to the family for 2019. What makes these limited edition — and thus, collectible — are their stunning exterior design, but happily all are also available as part of the permanent lineup … although I have to say that these are wayyyyyy prettier.

N° 304 Mandarine Boléro Le Rouge Couture Edition 2019 (CAN $53.00) | Housed in an utterly collectible “scribble-tiger” patterned genuine leather case, the design was inspired by Clare Waight Keller’s first Givenchy runway show — but it’s what’s on the inside that really steals the show. The Le Rouge lipstick range ranks as one of my faves for a good reason: highly colour saturated with a creamy application, the texture glides along lips and stays absolutely comfortable throughout wear. The vibrant shade seen on the bullet actually translates to more of a soft clementine once applied, coming to a velvet finish that has just a touch of sheen. BONUS: you can use this case with any other Le Rouge lipstick you own, in the event you wanted to jazz it up.

N°1 Mousseline Pastel Prisme Libre Couture Edition (CAN $80.00) | With a matching pattern on the lid to that of the lipstick case, this is the brand’s colour-correcting face powder that has become a cult-fave product for so many. The ultra finely milled powder can help set makeup, but it also provides a soft-focus blurring effect to detract from slight imperfections, aids in controlling excess oil (to a certain degree), and can also even out the complexion — all in a subtle way and in a finish that’s not discernible upon the skin. Note that this powder is fragranced, and while initially quite evident, it does dissipate quickly after application.

L’Interdit Eau de Parfum Couture Edition 2019 (CAN $116.00) | Belonging to the oriental-floral family, this was created by Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo, and Fanny Bal. As I previously reviewed this fragrance in detail when it first launched, I won’t go into all the particulars now but you can read more here. What differentiates this version from the original is the lovely “lace” pattern details on the 4G logo — everything else remains the same. Key ingredients include:

  • Top notes: Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac
  • Heart notes: Tuberose
  • Base notes: Patchouli, Vetiver, Ambroxan

Givenchy lipsticks definitely rank at the top of my favourites list, and Mandarine Boléro is no exception to that — plus it has the added perk of being such an easy shade to wear, one that reminds me of Summer every time I put it on. If face powders that are milled to the texture of gossamer fairy wings are your thing (ok, that’s a stretch … but still), then you’ll certainly want to give Prisme Libre a look, and don’t forget how stunning either of these with their gorgeous packaging, will look displayed on your vanity. Finally we come to L’Interdit, the fragrance created for Audrey Hepburn, no less. It’s flirty, sexy, fun, sophisticated, and even slightly naughty, especially with the little lace boudoir touches. Again, another display-worthy piece, wouldn’t you agree? Of course, all are limited edition so, fair warning.
