Amy Karlson: Sarah Chapman Skinesis Skin Insurance SPF 30 Perfecting Tint Review

This feature has been sitting in drafts since summer, so it’s about time I share my thoughts on Sarah Chapman Skinesis Skin Insurance SPF 30 Perfecting Tint.

I really love Skinesis, and the products I have tried are amazing (my Cleanser review) so I was expecting a lot from this, and was correct.

What did I like about this product?

The texture is very light, it doesn’t feel greasy, sticky, heavy or oily on the skin. It protects from both both UVA and UVB. I also am a firm believer in Sarah Chapman products so when she promises “dramatically improvement of overall skin quality”, I do want to think that’s true.
It did add that youthful glow that a lot of us are after, without any white cast. In fact, the SPF is tinted.
It had a light and nice scent to it. Jasmine, hyacinth and rose essential oils.
I love the pump which may seem like a small detail but it’s all about the details when it comes to high-end beauty.

What I did not like?

The shade. While the brand says “smart light-scattering powders and intelligent adaptive tints deliver a visible youth-boost”, it’s not quite so. I could just about get away with it in summer, and also not really. I have a light skin tone, so was hoping that one of my girlfriends, who bough it after my recommendation and has an olive-ish skin tone, would benefit from this shade more. But that was not the case. She found it a bit too dark, as well. So please keep this in mind. You may get away with wearing a lighter foundation on top but with that price point, it’s ideal when the colour matches you.
I was also not a big fan of the packaging, to be honest. While it is chic and really cool, it is bulky for travelling and you also have no idea how much product is left.

In general, I think if the shade of the Skin Insurance matches you, and it is a price you are willing to pay – go for it. You can’t go wrong with Sarah Champan Skinesis. It does give you that beautiful “healthy skin” glow, adds a bit of tint, and protects your skin at the same time.

However, I personally will not re-purchase, as I don’t want to pay £52 (again) for the shade which is too dark for me, as you can see from the photo. I just had to spend more time than I’d want to applying it, and making it work for me.
