Dior Backstage · Amber Neutrals Palette

I have been a fan of Dior’s Backstage range from the day the collection launched, so when the Amber Neutrals Palette was released earlier this year, I knew that one day I had to have it. What can I say? Red eyeshadow is most definitely my Kryptonite.

Backstage 003 Amber Neutrals Palette (CAN $63.00) | As someone who has a bajillion eyeshadow palettes, the transparent lid of this slim-profile compact makes my life so much easier; I can see at a glance what the shades are without resorting to prowling through a stack of boxes. I don’t even miss the fact that there’s no mirror & dinky little brushes, especially since I never use those anyway. As with both the Warm Neutrals (reviewed) and Cool Neutrals palettes (which I added to my stash later on but never reviewed on the blog, in case you’re wondering), this includes a primer (top left) and 8 shades in a range of finishes: matte, satin and shimmer. Inspired by the energy backstage at runway shows, Peter Philips, Dior’s makeup director, has curated a selection of colours that are meant to work harmoniously together — all I know is that these hues make my green eyes totally stand out. The texture on all is amazing: ultra-creamy to the touch and displaying an easy blendability with minimal fall down. As my lids tend to get oily, I definitely need a locking primer first; I sometimes then layer this palette’s primer when I want more impact & depth of tone. By the way, can we just take a moment and admire the raised logo pattern? So gorgeous

When you see all 3 Backstage palettes, you can immediately tell that there’s no overlap of shades — a fact that I really appreciate, since it makes investing in all three much more worthwhile that way.

There’s a simplicity to this range that really appeals to me; what you see is definitely what you get … and the added bonus of a stellar performance from the product. This palette contains enough variety — both in terms of colour and texture — to make creating a number of looks so easy, while the compact size means it’s travel-friendly. As aI said at the top, I’m a huge fan of this entire range and considering what you get, the easy price point makes it all even sweeter!
